Check an Ontario casino website address against the source
Short answer
Compare the exact hostname with the relevant official listing and its date. A familiar logo, a brand word inside a longer address or a Northline snapshot match does not establish that a page is safe or currently authorised.
The address in front of you is more specific than a brand name. Read it carefully before using a document-upload page, following a support link or interpreting a directory match.

Start from the relevant official source
The iGO directory lists sites offered by its contracted operators and describes OLG separately. When reviewed for this edition, it displayed a listing date of 1 September 2026. The access date of 4 November does not turn that snapshot into a fresh finding about every entry.
Open the official directory independently when a Northline record is absent or unusable. Match the product and destination as well as the name. Do not transfer a conclusion from one product or jurisdiction to another merely because the branding is similar.
Identify the hostname before comparing
A URL has separate components, including its host, path and query. A brand in the page path or a parameter is not the hostname. Northline compares the hostname against its qualified records and documented aliases; it does not treat any address containing a brand word as equivalent.
For the comparison, use only the public destination. Do not paste a reset-password link, session token or private account URL. If the address is hard to interpret, resolve that uncertainty before entering credentials or uploading files.
Worked example: a brand at the beginning is not a match
Suppose the fictional reference is casino.example. A message displays casino.example.notice.test. That is a different hostname; it ends in notice.test. A page at notice.test/casino.example is also hosted at notice.test. The familiar words do not move the page onto the reference host.
These reserved example addresses are illustrations, not destinations to visit. The lesson is exact comparison: do not simplify away extra labels because the beginning looks familiar. A legitimate service may use another documented host, but the relationship needs evidence rather than a guess.
Read the result with its limits
- A usable match means a corresponding dated record exists under the tool’s matching rules.
- A missing match means the tool has not established a match. It is not, by itself, a legal finding.
- A stale, conflicting or unavailable record should remain unresolved; an older positive result cannot silently replace it.
- A new destination after a redirect needs its own check. An earlier address does not identify the final recipient.
Verify an unexpected request separately
Get Cyber Safe warns that lookalike websites can imitate familiar design. Its advice is to verify a questionable communication through independently found official contact details, rather than the contact route supplied by the suspicious message.
A directory match does not certify page security, guarantee a withdrawal or establish that a request for documents is genuine. If an unexpected message asks for sensitive information, verify both the recipient and the purpose before acting.
