Resolve a document format or file-size error
A file extension, file type and upload limit are separate constraints. Changing a filename does not convert the document.
The distinction that matters
Record the permitted formats and size limit from the upload page. Check the actual file type in your device's file information. A renamed image remains encoded in its original format. If conversion is allowed, use a trusted local tool and inspect every page of the resulting file before submitting it.
A worked example
A 12 MB PDF contains four pages, while a form accepts files below a stated limit. Splitting it into four files may lose the relationship between pages if the recipient expects one document. Ask whether compression or multiple uploads are acceptable instead of repeatedly retrying the same rejected file.
Your next steps
- Confirm the exact error and allowed formats.
- Keep an untouched original.
- Check that conversion preserves every required page and detail.
- Avoid public conversion websites for identity or banking records.
Where this answer stops
This guide supplies no universal size limit and does not approve a conversion method for an operator. A successful upload only confirms transmission; the recipient may still need to assess the document itself.
