Build a game identifier from more than its title
Provider, title and version are separate fields that help prevent one game's documentation being attached to another.
The distinction that matters
Preserve identifiers exactly as the source presents them. A title can be reused in a sequel, regional release or differently configured product. A provider name reduces ambiguity, but still may not identify a particular build. Record unknown values as unknown rather than inventing a version from a website date.
A worked example
Your notes say 'Forest Coins' and a second source says 'Forest Coins Deluxe'. Treating Deluxe as an optional marketing word could merge two products. A useful record contains both full titles and asks whether the provider's documentation explicitly identifies a relationship.
Your next steps
- Copy the complete title.
- Record the provider or publisher label.
- Keep a version or build value only when shown.
- Attach the document URL and access date to the same record.
Where this answer stops
This is an identification method, not a catalogue of actual games. The fictional names do not imply availability in Ontario. A complete-looking record can still be outdated, so preserve its evidence date.
